A ROMANTIC AT HEART, A THERAPIST BY TRAINING
A believer in great love, the kind you build on purpose. ICEEFT certified couples therapist in Wodonga, working online across Australia.
MEET NATALIE
I HAVE ALWAYS BELIEVED IN A GREAT LOVE
The kind of love that makes you feel invincible, untouchable, I-can-do-anything kind of love.
A romantic at heart, and rom-com obsessed, love has given me hope when I've needed it most. I always wondered how to build a love that lasts. In 2015, with a background in journalism, I followed my curiosity and began a blog, writing about love, dating and being a singleton. As I dove deeper into the land of lost loves, daring dalliances and confusing situationships (paired with my own therapy), I wanted to know more about the business of love.
In 2016 I enrolled in a Masters in Couples Therapy, ironically, never with the intention of becoming a therapist. And then, I fell in love at the first lecture. So there I was, doing my thing, learning all the theory and trying to keep my own dating life alive.
I met Pete (aka BAE, Handsome, my partner), a man who was not intimidated by a woman who wanted to understand relationships for a living. And after 6 to 12 months of infatuating love, our own patterns began to surface.
AND THEN, ENTER THE BLUE EYED BOY
IT’S ONE THING TO STUDY ATTACHMENT. IT IS ANOTHER TO MEET YOUR OWN.
So we went to therapy together. If I was going to put us in the room, it was not going to be guesswork. I did not want a bandaid. I wanted someone to find the root and give us the antidote. I wanted a method built on results, on research, on numbers that proved a high success rate. That's how I found EFT: Emotionally Focused Therapy, one of the most evidence-backed approaches and the "gold standard" for couples therapy.
OUR FIRST SESSION WAS AN EXHALE THE RELIEF OF SOMEONE ELSE HOLDING THE RELATIONSHIP FOR A MOMENT WAS HUGE.
Proof that I was no longer alone in this. I had my breakthrough not as the therapist, but as the client. And it confirmed the thing I had believed all along, now with the evidence to back it: love is not something you find and hope it stays alive. It's something you nurture and nourish, built over time and on purpose, together, both of you doing the work it takes to hold a relationship. And this is what I've built my work around.

GREAT LOVE IS FOUND, THEN BUILT. YOU DESERVE TO BE HELD, NOT JUDGED. THE BEST RELATIONSHIPS HOLD BOTH THE ROM-COM AND THE RESEARCH. AND COUPLES CAN COME AT ANY STAGE, AND RETURN FOR LIFE.

APPROACH
I work in Emotionally Focused Therapy, the most researched approach in couples work. Warm, evidence based, and never clinical. All couples welcome, including same sex and LGBTQIA+.
WHAT IS EFT?
You may have heard of the Gottman Method. It's well known, and it isn't the only way. Where Gottman tends to focus on skills and behaviours, EFT works with the emotional bond beneath them, the attachment that actually drives how you fight, withdraw, and reach for each other.
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) is a research-backed, attachment-based model of therapy that helps people create secure, meaningful relationships, with themselves and with others.
Developed by clinical psychologist Dr. Sue Johnson, EFT has been shown to be the most effective approach to couples therapy to date, with research showing 90% of couples experience improvement, and 75% report feeling out of relationship distress entirely.
At its heart, EFT recognises that we're wired for connection, and that conflict often stems from deeper emotional needs going unmet, not just surface-level disagreements about laundry or screen time. Many of us learned that having needs makes us "too much" or "needy," but EFT gently challenges that conditioning and helps you express those needs in a way that invites closeness, not conflict.
For individuals, EFT supports you to recognise and heal emotional patterns that keep you stuck, so you can move toward relationships that are secure, self-led, and aligned with who you truly are.
Whether you're navigating conflict, healing after betrayal, or simply longing for something more, EFT meets you with clarity, compassion, and lasting change. It's not about perfection. It's about presence.
As an EFT therapist based in Wodonga, I integrate this approach into both individual and couples therapy, supporting clients across Albury Wodonga to create more secure, connected relationships.
